This is Hydra Aid. It is a gel thickener used for people who have trouble swallowing and choke a lot. It is tasteless and looks like hair gel. I bring this up because I have finally dismissed him from my family.
When Lucy was in the NICU she had trouble eating and swallowing her food. Not an uncommon thing for preemies. After many different eating positions and different therapists we finally found something that made a difference. They added hydra aid to her food and suddenly she didnt choke as much, and she ate the whole bottle through the mouth. AMAZING. It was a break through. We brought her home on hydra aid and soon found why it is such an annoying item. It clogs the nipples on the bottle like no tomorrow. The poor girl would be sucking and nothing was happening and her parents would be oblivious to the situation.
She has finally been weened off of this and is doing well!
Super fantastic because that stupid bottle is $50 and insurance doesn't cover it because it is under nutrition. I know $50 isn't much next to all my health bills but it would sure be nice for insurance to cover SOMETHING!
So in short Hydra aid you brought my baby home, you made it possible for her to eat. Thank you. You also made my life super difficult for more reasons than posted.
