Not for the weary

With our tax return we budgeted for a few things, one of them was 72 hr kits for each of us and some food storage, ummm what a nightmare!  After going online trying to find a list for a 72 hour kit I finally found one that was acceptable and printed that puppy out and added and subtracted my own essentials to it.  That's 3 pages of items ways of packing and such, oy vey.   *o and as a side note, I did rotate these pictures before I pushed the upload button but somehome my computer decided that I was wrong and they should appear this way.  Why didn't I reupload them the correct way?  I have a 14 month old baby, who has time for this anyway!

 Just a few items, um did we all shutter a little at the thought of me holding an axe? A whistle (reminds me of the movie The Other Guys, which actually wasn't very good but anyway they took the cops gun away and gave hime a whistle, ha)  Handwarmers I might break those out today what with all the snow.  A sewing kit, let's hope Clay will never have to use that needle to sew a person up, he doesn't do too well with blood.  O and hand sanitizer because that's a necessity in every day life let alone when you're expected to survive for 72 hours in harsh conditions.

 Ya know the sad part?  That's not even all of it.  We purchased a lot of our stuff at Wal-mart and a few things online.  I didn't want to deal with batteries so I ordered solar/wind up radios and flashlights.  They work fabulously.  Since Lucy is a lazy bum and won't be carrying her own pack, we are putting most of her essentials in Clay's pack, that way if we do get seperated and the choice has to be made to leave a pack, whoever has Lucy grabs his pack. 

And now we pray that we will never have to use these and it was a complete waste of money.
