Just a quick pit stop at the hospital...

So Monday, yesterday I had the day off life was fine I even made dinner.  No like really a more elaborate meal than I usually take on.
Zoey has had a clear runny nose sense Friday and then Monday around 4 both of us sat on the couch eating some trail mix.  She was rubbing both of her ears like a crazy person.  I thought it had to do with the runny nose either spring allergies or teething.  Before drugging her I thought I would try an oil, I had a mixture of melaleuca, lavender and coconut oil, something that had been suggested to us for ear aches.  I rubbed it behind her ears.  And laid her down.  By 5:30 when she woke up still rubbing her ears so I gave her some Ibuprophen.  And then I noticed her face was swollen.  Her back was red like a sunburn.  And when I changed her diaper her legs were red like a sunburn also.
Clay was home just before 6 and we were debating about what to do.  I had benedryl but it was in pill form and says not to give to anyone 6 and under-helpful.
He ran to Walgreen's to grab some liquid.  Just after he left she started shivering and I noticed her hands were blue but not cold to the touch.  That's it!  Lucy put your shoes on we're going to the Dr.
I pulled dinner out of the oven and stuck it in the fridge.  We piled in the car and I told Clay to meet me at Community Care.
At Community Care they put a sensor on her finger and couldn't get a good reading of her oxygen so they said to go to the ER.
Ok, now I'm gonna pee my pants.
(At least we don't have to debate about what we should do.)

This picture is about an hour after we got there.

So I walk into the ER with Zoey and the registrar is asking about Zoey and she wanted to know her middle name.
Middle name?  Ummm, ummm. I know this.  It's a song. Ummmm.  Jane, Jane!  I got it!  (I handle stress so well)
They hooked her toe up to the machine and monitored her vitals, the usual stuff.  And gave her Benedryl, Prednisone and Zyrtec.
She promptly threw that up on my shirt and crotch. It wasn't a ton tho, so that's good.
She cuddled for about an hour and then after that she wanted to escape and was oh so upset with us that we would not let her walk around on the dirty hospital floor.
And she was soooo tired but would not sleep in these conditions.

Our nurse Jeff was awesome and gave both the girls a pink teddy bear.
Lucy was struggling with the fact that one of those teddy bear's was for Zoey, after all everything belongs to Lucy.
We were there for just under 4 hours.  Not too shabby, altho it felt like an eternity.  Especially since I had just ran out the door, without diapers, toys or food.  Thank goodness their is a Subway in the hospital.

Those little bumps are her hives.  They covered her entire body.  I wanted to itch for her. She didn't seem to think they itched but they didn't look comfy.  Head to toe covered in hives and a swollen face.  Poor thing.

Soooo, we don't have a pin point of what her allergy is.  It could have been the oil, it could have been anything in the trail mix.  No idea really, discovering that will be in our future I'm sure.  Wish us luck!
Being in the ER tho I wasn't happy to be there of course but just seeing the other people in pain made me grateful that my baby wasn't in extreme amounts of pain and was still alive and squealing.
The poor lady next to us was moaning in great discomfort and Lucy kept asking why she was crying.  She's at that fun stage where everything is why, why, why, why, why, why!
Anyway we're all still alive and I know Zoey's middle name!
