I've always been an animal person but I'd say my favorite is dogs, but really I just love them all.
In Jr. High my parent's and I moved to the opposite side of town in the country. My Mom would drive me to the other side of town during school so I didn't have to switch schools because we had only planned on being their temporarily, we spent 3 years there. It was a mutual decision between all of us and I enjoyed myself.
I lived in the country and had horses to play with, an irrigated field and most importantly my dog, Wort.
I lived about 20 min. away from my close friends so I didn't see them a lot during the summer. I had made friends in church but our house was still not centrally located. So during the summer I would play with the animals and I was bored at times but mostly I had a fabulous time.
I entered Wort into a obedience competition and placed 4th, not too shabby for being self taught in obedience training. My Grandfather was a dog trainer and had an agility course for the dogs that I got to play with, so really life was good.
Worty was my buddy.
My point is I've always been into dogs and I ask Clayton pretty much on a daily basis if we can get a dog.
I follow the animal shelter and a couple of rescue groups online.
Their is a greyhound rescue in Boise, ID and Clay and I had thought about adopting one of them, so I convinced him to pack up the van one Saturday so we could go meet them.
He very reluctantly said yes.
Well since we're going to Boise anyway..... why not transport a dog.
I kind of pushed his buttons here, but he also reluctantly said yes.
So here's Rusty!
Rusty had a home with a couple that liked to go 4-wheeling a lot and he's afraid of loud noises so they surrendered him over to Power of the paw. http://powerofthepawid.com/
So he traveled with us up to Boise and from there he went to Spokane, WA. And has hopefully found an awesome family who will be patient with his fear of loud, scary things. :)
He was such a sweet boy and so great with the girls and very quiet in the back.
And he tolerated Lucy calling him Worty.
Here we are waiting for his transport to pick him up.
I was struggling getting everyone out of the way of vehicles and behaving.
Clay in the background added "this is your life with a dog."
He's a stinker but I love him, and I still desperately want a dog. :)
After we dropped Rusty off we went and saw the greyhounds, who were gorgeous of course and sweet dogs. Sadly no pictures were taken.
With all that excitement and driving we plum tuckered everyone out.
Broken neck.
But don't worry Lucy found ways to keep herself entertained when Mom was mean and said "no more movies!"
It was a good preview trip of what to expect when we drive to Vancouver, WA in August. Guys that drive is going to suck. Little Zoey cried for an hour straight on our way home before we finally stopped at a rest stop and when we put her back in that mean old car seat she cried some more til she crashed.
Enough of that.
Father's Day was yesterday and us girls got together and spoiled our handsome man with a camp chef.
He was happy to oblige.
Side note it's been a while since I've posted because of the internet, it's sooo not my fault. :)
We're in the middle of upgrading so their was a week where we had no internet and a couple with wicked slow, but we were both working and not home anyway so we let it slide and really had no time to call anyone about it anyway.
Don't you fret tho, it's in the middle of being repaired!
Because I know you were very concerned about this.
