Iona cemetery

The weather is finally starting to warm up, it's still been a little rainy and windy, but I expected that.  Sunday afternoon was lovely and after dinner we went out on a drive, well actually I was looking for a park for Lucy to play on the toys, but we found a cemetery instead.  I love going to cemeteries, I like to try and guess how they died.
Couple of things I noticed while there
  • Way too many young kids die, I saw a lot of 5 years old and younger graves
  • One family had 3 children die, I think one the same day, the other a few days old, and the other maybe a week old?  Those poor parents
  • One man died a year ago and he didn't have a headstone, his name was Bart, but the T looked like an F.  I felt bad for Bart.  First of all he didn't have an actual headstone just a laminated paper, and second they couldn't have used a better font, people will think Bart is Barf. Poor Bart
  • I also looked at when one spouse died compared to the other, If i remember right 56 years was the longest.  That's a long time to be without your companion :(
  • The oldest headstone I saw was the late 1800's (I don't remember the year)
  • We found a grave a girl my age, she had a cool headstone, very nice and pictures of her on it, one picture was her in a fencing suit (that's how I'm pretending she died, it was a terrible fencing accident)
  • We also found one of a man who was Clay's age, that's not too big of a deal tho cuz Clay is old :) har har jk
  • ooo also their was a couple who lived long lives but they also served together in the navy, that was interesting, I focused more on their love story then their death- they met in Hawaii after the attack of Pearl Harbor, she nursed him back to health, ya know the typical Pearl Harbor love story. (Yeah I made that up too, but hey it could've happened?!)
I would have liked to stay longer but it's like pulling teeth trying to get Clay to go on walks with me and he must have been getting bored with my death stories.  But I have a request for when I die, I want a picture on my headstone, this one actually
Just minus the whole "we are jumping into the season"
Also a nice single close up shot of each of us, probably one of me in my 40's
And then the story of how I died.  Let's be honest we all want to know how these people died so why not put a quick little synopsis, such as "She was in a terrible car accident but managed to survive 2 days, and then she bled out" ( I don't plan on dying like that but if I do now everyone knows what to put)
I remember going to my grandma's grave with my grandpa and family.  They would always bring pitchers of water and a brush and clean the headstone, I hope my family does that.  I have a deep hatred of birds and I'm sure they know that so they'll be pooping all over it.
Also my sister and brother in law they want a bench for their headstone so people can come and visit them, I think that's a lovely idea. But I'm putting a picture on mine so I don't need people sitting on my face, but I do love the bench idea.
Well enough talk about death, I'm happy to be alive!  Who wouldn't you'd miss crazy things like this!
We were busy looking at a headstone and we turn around and this is what we see, guess I should seat belt the monster in, oops.  She sure thought she was a genius tho
