I mean it may be. Ok I'll just come out with it, sigh.
I have spring fever.
Whew good to get that off my chest. (wipes forehead)
I'm the type of person that likes to go on adventures and a lot of them. Simple ventures really. I don't need to hike Everest to have fun.
My hunny is a home body. Which I'm cool with because I adore my house and feel like I don't get to be home as often as I'd like. But, by the end of winter I'm about ready to pull my hair out if I don't get out the house.
It takes a lot, no really a lot of encouragement, pleading, and bargaining with the hubby to get him to go on an adventure!
I had bribed him one fine day in March to do such a thing.
We have been having surprisingly pleasant weather here the last couple of weeks and I have been to Palisades Dam so many times and just love it over there. It's only an hour away, let the adventure begin!
So this is kind of what I was picturing in my mind as we are driving up there.
Not so much green, no I realize it is March but I'm just excited that I'm outside and Clay has agreed to go.
*side note this is indeed a picture of the Palisades area, except ya know in August. Totally the same thing.*
So we pass the dam store and we pull up to the dam. Yay we're there man!
And I look out across the water and I realize it appears to be frozen. Hmmm maybe Clayton won't notice. He's driving it could happen.
As we get further their is more snow on the side of the road.
Well Palisades Dam.
The locations that I like to go for my little hikes are accessed via a single lane dirt road edged by a cliff.
Me: Um the water is frozen and I don't feel comfortable driving on the roads to our hiking/picnic location. (frowny face)
Clay: Well maybe the road won't look bad.
We slowly drive past a single lane snow covered dirt road.
Bummer.
Tiffany: Hmmm ok so I got a little excited.
Their are plenty of pull off areas so we chose one that had a "boat ramp" and explored down there.
See! It's practically spring!
This was right after she dropped the stick that she had picked up and began yelling "steak, steak, steak!"
She meant snake. :)
We did the tiniest of hikes but the girls had a blast throwing rocks into the water trying to break the ice. Just doing our part on erosion.
(If it appears to you that Bella had a muzzle on I must correct you. It is a gentle leader, used for dogs who love to pull their owners. It's helpful but when I walk her around the neighborhood I think it freaks people out.)
Sure, sure it's frozen but really it was like high 50's outside. So pretty much spring. It really wasn't bad once we got moving around, which was the point.
Everybody loves a picnic!
They don't call it Scenic Idaho for nothin! Their is pretty much always a byway that you can stop at and read something. Of course we didn't read it though. :)
Clay really didn't give me a hard time. He even admitted it was nice to get out of the house.
And can you even believe that after we got home I convinced him to go on a bike ride?! Always an adventure living with me.

We love excursions too. I have to get out of my house because there is so much to see. We are adding this place to our summer list. Let me know if there are any other cool day trips.
